To everything there is a season...Ecclesiastes 3:2 Mother Savannah Mayshack was born during one of the fruitious seasons of Willie Burleson and Laura Moss Burleson on the first day of 1903, in Ferris, Texas. When I was a child...I Corinthians 13:11 As a young girl, she grew up in Eureka, Navarro County, Texas. She was educated in the public schools there. Thou shall be saved...Romans 10:10 While still a young girl, Mother answered the call of Jesus, and was saved and baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Eureka. I must work the works of him that sent me...John 9:4 The fire never burned out in Mother Mayshack. After moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 1944, she continued her work in the lord. She united with the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She was faithful in her service there. She later joined the Upper Room Temple and served as "Church Mother". She finally united with long time friends and acquaintances at the New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and remained faithful until her health failed. Her ministry and service touched the entire Metropolis when she became a prominent "Radio Prayer Warrior". She began "Phone Praying" with the late Brother Jimmy Avant on the old "KNOK Gospel Radio". And later aided (name withheld) and KHVN as a "Intercessory Prayer Warrior". She also lived up to the name MOTHER by serving Tarrant County as a Foster Mother. I have finished my course...2 Timothy 4:7 After a long, well traveled road home, Mother Mayshack finished her course, Friday, April 24, 1987 at a Fort Worth hospital. She was the mother of two daughters, Mrs. Thressia Nichols, who preceded her in death, and (name withheld), whom she resided with until moving into the rest home. Sister Hardeman was a long time member of Rising Star Baptist Church, and served on the Nurse‘s Aide Auxiliary for a number of years. She leaves to mourn, a devoted daughter, one sister Mrs. Savannah Mayshack, a niece, three nephews (including A.F. Peace), a host of other relatives and friends. |

Mrs. Annie Mae Nichols was born November 16, 1911 in Austin, Texas to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Hughes. She attended school in Taylor, Texas. She moved to Corsicana in 1925 where she united with Rev. Taylor's Church of God in Christ. Annie Mae Nichols accepted the Lord and was baptized with the Holy Ghost at an early age. While living in Corsicana, she met and married (name withheld) and to this union nineteen children were born. Later in 1949, she moved to Palmer, Texas. There she joined Wade Chapel Church of God in Christ. In 1973 she moved to Ferris, Texas and united with Lighthouse Church of God in Christ. Survivors include: husband; children; eighty-three (83) grandchildren; twenty-eight (28) great grandchildren; four sisters (including Irene Ellis and Pearl Taylor); four brothers (including Ike Hughes, Jr. and Curtis Hughes); and a host of other relatives and friends. |

She was united in marriage to Mr. Aubrey Ellis, Sr., and to this union three children were born. She was saved under the leadership of her uncle (name withheld) in Cheneyboro, Texas. She later placed her membership under the leadership of (name withheld). She was a faithful member of the Taylor Memorial Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of (name withheld), until her health failed. Mrs. Irene Hughes Ellis departed this life March 28, 2004 at Mel-Haven Convalescent Home in Corsicana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, sisters Pearl Taylor and Annie Mae Nichols, brothers Billy Hughes and Curtis Hughes, and son-in-law, Supt. Carter V. Smith. She is survived by: two daughters, one son, 12 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 39 great great grandchildren; 4 great great great grandchildren; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; along with a host of other relatives and caring friends. |

II Cor. 5:1 Evangelist Tressie Ann Hodge Williams, daughter of the late Gordon and Amanda Isaac Hodge was born in Rusk county, Texas January 20, 1904. She united with the Moss Temple church of the Living God in her youth and was faithful and active until moving away. Later she united with the Sunnyvale Church of the Living God in Dallas, Texas where she remained until death. She became an evangelist and did missionary work until her health failed. She attended public school at Rock Hill, Union Spring and Greeley. Mrs. Williams departed this life Wednesday afternoon in the Henderson Memorial Hospital, Henderson, Texas February 3, 1982 leaving to mourn her home going, six brothers (including Roger Williams, Charlie Hodge, Harvey Bill Hodge and Preston Hodge), three sisters (including Evelyn Hodge White and Argralia Hodge Moreland), three favorite nieces (including Annie Lois Hodge McDonald),many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. |
