It is with mixed emotions that I report the news of the passing of my beloved grandmother, Eula V. Evans Hughes, on Sunday, March 15, 2009. My emotions are mixed because while I know that she's resting in ultimate peace with God and that she is no longer in any pain, I miss her terribly. Grandmamma Eula was always ready with a hug, a kind word, a card, or a prayer whenever we needed it, and she loved all of her family deeply & truly. In addition, Grandmamma Eula was a gold mine of information when I was ready to start tracing our family tree back in 1996. One of the most wonderful memories I have of her is the evening when Grandmamma Eula, Grandaddy Ike, Aunt Bernice, my father & I stayed up until 5am talking about the family history and laughing until our sides hurt. That memory has warmed me on many a chilly night since Grandmamma's death.
